Spirituality: Waiting For God To Rescue You?

Author: Nick Arrizza, M.D.

If you subscribe to some form of religion it is likely that you have more than once found yourself praying to your God for help of some kind. What is the nature of the help that you have been asking for?

Well in most cases it likely has the quality of asking your God to help remedy a problem in some aspect of your life. In other words you are asking for help that is of a "rescuing nature". By rescuing nature I mean that you believe that you are not able to affect the desired outcome on your own and therefore need your God's help to bring it into being.

If this is the case then you also believe that by taking such a stance you will somehow be helped and therefore ultimately feel and be fulfilled in your request. I would like to draw your attention however to something that you may be missing.

When you take the stance that has been described, in relation to your God, what exactly have you done. Well you have essentially given up your power and your responsibility for yourself and your life. Does this make you feel in anyway better about yourself? Highly unlikely.

If you look at it closely it likely makes you feel inadequate, powerless, unworthy, helpless, alone, vulnerable, dependent, weak, desperate, needy, sad, and unsuccessful to name a few. In other words it makes you a victim!

Now once you have in essence "defined" yourself this way, as a victim, how successful do you think you are going to be in getting the desired response from your God? Well if you insist on remaining a victim then it's unlikely you are going to be successful. That is unless you think that victims are inherently successful.

So what are you to do, not pray to your God or give up on your religion? Well for one, you might wish to consider in what capacity you would like to communicate with your God. You might also wish to think about what the true nature of the meaning of "help" is.

You may find that "help" is more about assisting you in your journey to your true essence, that of becoming a Divine Being in your own right, than it is in being a victim who is constantly searching for rescue. How does that feel to you?

If you have the courage to undertake such a journey then kindly visit the web link below where I have a special audio message waiting for you.
