International Terrorism; case study

Author: Lance Winslow

We were brutally attacked during 9-11 by International Terrorists, who killed innocent people. These murderers proved they have no respect for life and are simply radical fundamentally brain washed sub-humans.

After 9-11 our Think Tank went to work considering all the potential vulnerabilities of Nation's flows. We identified 20 worst-case scenarios and then worked to figure out how to prevent them from International Attack. Here is worst-case scenario 15 below;

"International Terrorists blowing up a bridge while tanker rail cars carrying chemicals are going over it and taking out the bridge that crosses water, which is generally drinking water supplies, for instance the Colorado River."

Before 2004 this may have been possible as these bridges have many access points from land, water and air. They were very hard to guard and anyone who has studied warfare would likely see these as targets. The International Terrorists would get a three for one.

Such an attack could stop rail traffic and thus causing problems and screwing up distribution flows. That much freight cannot come by truck, as we do not have enough trucks or enough roads for that increased level of traffic, we do not even have enough truck drivers which is already at a critical point with regards to driver shortages.

Our think tank came up with some plans to defeat this potential threat from being exploited by these murderous International Terrorists for instance;

1.) We must have routine checks of these bridges would help these areas and barriers making it hard to get large vehicles near bridge support structures.

2.) Put cameras and infrared devices on locomotives, every time they passed a bridge the pictures would be electronically sent to dispatch and be reviewed by the people in Washington.

3.) We need to have every rail road conductor ought to have a machine gun on board and be trained in how to use it, perhaps be sent paint ball practice camp or a target shooting range. They should also be equipped with night vision goggles and site training.

The union workers might like this anyway and thus have barbecue stories worthy of note in the future. This might also improve productivity and a positive attitude. Every train should be armed. The costs associated are nominal. All the conductor needs is about 3 minutes to rifle off opposition fire and get on the radio for help. Then stop the train and incapacitate it by locking brakes and shutting it down. Perhaps then run for the bushes to hide and pick them off the International Terrorists one at a time.

Our think tank agreed that this was a potential worst-case scenario and easy to exploit, as we print in magazines on the shelves of every major book store articles in Rail Road News and others, the rail track diagrams and where they go, how many trains per hour, how many tracks, what is hauled and who it is hauled for and by.

The Department of Transportation and Department of Homeland Security has installed video cameras on such bridges and they are regularly patrolled. Locomotive conductors have all sorts of ways to protect themselves now. There are also several other technologies being deployed that we cannot talk about now, but suffice it to say they are being installed as we speak.

Our railroads are much safer today than ever before. Just because you do not see the department of homeland security out there every day, does not mean they are not behind the scenes protecting our asses. We have the most brilliant people in the nation shoring up all the potential threats, so rest assured this nation is safer than ever before. Think on this in 2006.
