Don??t Give Fear an Upper Hand When Dealing With Depression

A sign of depression is usually fear and worry. Being mental symptoms, for dealing with depression, these enemies of happiness must be dealt with.

What do you do when your fears and depression are stronger than what you can bear? There are times that no matter what you do, your fears have the best of you. However, one has to make every effort to control them. Hard as that may be, it can be done. Here are some suggestions.

1. Take things 'One Day at a Time': Each day can provide us with different opportunities to learn new things and that includes learning how to deal with your problems. Remember that famous quote by Jesus: 'Which of You By Worrying Can Add a Single Hair to Your Head'Let Tomorrow Worry about itself, each day has enough worries of its own.'

2. Dwell on the Positive Things in Your Life: When a person is feeling depressed, he or she should take a few minutes to write down all of the things that he is thankful for in his life. The more you enhance the positive and good points of your life, the easier it will be to see that all really isn't as bad as it may seem at the moment and you will be more equipped to deal with the present situations.

3. If you are Spiritual or of a Religious Upbringing, pray. Remember that there is one power that is stronger than your fears and depression and that is the power of God.

4. Engage in Some Sort of Physical Exercise: This method exercises the motor centers of the brain, making the blood flow away from the emotional activity center; consequently one becomes more receptive to positive thoughts.

Granted, it may not be easy to deal with all of our fears, however there are all kinds of help available. The key is to be patient and not to give up. In time, you will be able to find those resources that will help you with your problems.

In Friendship,
