I think it's mandatory to find out what's being offered and perhaps what plan best suits your site needs

What happens if I leave?

Make sure you get an answer from the first place. Some people had their domain blocked and so on.

What happens if I exceed bandwidth?

Some would suspend your site, others would contact you and solve the problem in a friendly manner.

How long have you been in the business?

This is not to say a new host can't be good, but you can find some info about the firm you need to work with in the hosting of your site.

How much downtime have you had in the last year?

Curious to see if they answer with the truth anyway another nice way to see how they've been getting around.

Some serious contacts

Let's be serious, I wouldn't be too satisfied to pay for a monthly hosting

plan without being able to contact someone other than by mail. I need a phone

number to discuss some details when in trouble and every decent host would offer a face to face contact way, even if just by phone.

Database backups Yes or no?
